What happens during emergency dental treatment?

Booking your appointment

To book your emergency appointment, simply call us or email us as soon as possible. You can also send a WhatsApp message or fill in the contact form below. Our friendly team will help find the best appointment for you, with same-day often available. We are understanding and supportive, and help you in every way we can.

Before your appointment

We offer you some personalised advice to help you while you wait for your emergency appointment. This may include some temporary measures you can do at home to make you feel more comfortable.

Emergency consultation

When you arrive for your emergency appointment, we ask you more about what has happened and examine your mouth to better understand your situation. We may also take intraoral radiographs.

Emergency treatment

We carry out emergency treatment to relieve your pain and improve your oral health and function. If necessary, you may need to return to the clinic for further treatment following healing time. We will book this appointment for you and give you some advice for looking after your mouth in the meantime. Additional charges may apply for further treatment.

Frequently asked questions

How much does emergency dentistry cost?

Our emergency dental fees are from £86 for registered patients at our practice, and from £107.50 for unregistered patients. This fee includes intraoral radiographs and treatment carried out during your emergency appointment. Further treatment may be required, which may carry additional charges.

How do I book an emergency appointment?

It’s easy to book an emergency appointment with us. Simply call us on 01420 550616, email info@shinedentalclinic.co.uk, or message us on WhatsApp. You can also fill out our handy contact form and someone will be in touch.

Can I have an emergency appointment if I am not registered at your practice?

Yes, we offer emergency appointments to patients not registered at our practice. Our daily emergency appointments are made available to our own patients first, but are then opened up to unregistered patients. We are pleased to welcome you.

Can dental emergencies be prevented?

It is not always possible to prevent dental emergencies, as they are usually sudden and unexpected. However, keeping your teeth and gums in great condition will reduce the risk of a dental emergency occurring. Also, attending regular dental check-ups and hygiene appointments allows us to keep an eye on your oral health and do all we can to prevent the need for emergency treatment.

What can I do if I have a dental emergency at the weekend?

We do provide an on-call service for our patients. If you have a dental emergency on the weekend or a bank holiday, please call 01420 550 616 and follow the instructions on the answerphone message. This on-call service is available between 9am and 11am.
