Cosmetic
We’re sure you’ll agree that our teeth are not simply functional items for the purpose of eating.
No, our teeth – or rather our smile – is an essential part of who we are and how we feel about ourselves. A bright, straight, white smile defines us as healthy, beautiful and confident.
Thankfully, cosmetic procedures such as whitening, braces or veneers are one of the quickest ways to transform discoloured, misshapen or crooked teeth into a gleaming set of straight white pearls.
Whitening
Whitening is a very effective way to transform your smile and improve the colour of your teeth. At Shine Dental Clinic we offer two different ways which you can improve the colour of your teeth.
Zoom Whitening
Zoom whitening is a fantastic way to improve the colour of your teeth in one visit. The whitening gel is applied to the teeth and the white speed lamp is used to activate the gel.
Teeth can be whitened up to 6 shades in 1 hour. After the Zoom has been completed we also give you take-home kits to continue your whitening.
Enlighten Whitening
Zoom and Enlighten patients would visit the clinic to have an impression tray made to fit. They would then use the gel for 2 weeks at home followed by a session in the chair or an “In Office Whitening” for 60 minutes at the clinic.
After patients have been for the second session they can then continue to use the gel at home for as long as they wish.
What is the Six-Month Smiles System?
The Six Month Smiles® System is an alternative solution to traditional braces which is discreet, neat and speedy for straightening teeth. This award-winning orthodontic system will straighten your teeth, on average in 6 months, and is the most effective method to give patients straight, healthy teeth and a beautiful smile.
Although not completely invisible like some other types of brace, the Six Month Smiles® method is far more discreet than conventional braces. The treatment is an extremely quick and effective means of treating patients with orthodontic problems that affect their front teeth.
A revolutionary combination of proven orthodontic techniques, modern materials and innovation, takes all of the best aspects of traditional braces and modifies the treatment and its materials. The effective and safe cosmetic solution fits around your lifestyle and instead of wearing visible metal braces for years, or experiencing invasive teeth straightening procedures, Six Month Smiles® is comfortable, short-term and affordable.
Low forces and short overall orthodontic treatment times increase comfort, safety, and hygiene for our patients with an average treatment time ofonly six months.
Six Month Smiles® is typically less expensive than traditional braces, aligner therapy, or veneers and uses tooth-coloured braces that are barely visible. The wires are usually tooth-coloured as well.
If you are an adult (16 years and older) with crooked or spaced teeth and you’re not looking for a major alteration to your bite, this could be the solution for you!
Unfortunately, not all patients are suited to this treatment and would benefit from seeing an Orthodontist (an Orthodontic Specialist). We will always advise you if our dentist feels this would be a better option for you and we have many specialists available to us who would happily take a referral.
Crowns, Onlays, Inlays & Veneers
Crowns
Crowns are advised when there is insufficient tooth left in which to place a restoration. They are also recommended when we are concerned that a tooth is susceptible to fracture, such as after a tooth has had endodontic (root canal treatment) treatment. We can either have these made in a Dental Laboratory or in house in our new CEREC machine.
Crowns can either completely cover a tooth or partially cover a tooth (onlay). Our Clinicians will recommend to you which are the best options for you.
Veneers
Veneers are thin, laboratory-made restorations that sit on top of the tooth surface. They can be used to improve the appearance of teeth whether it is an issue with alignment or colour.
These restorations can either be made in house in our new CEREC machine or using the Dental Laboratory.
What is a Composite Build-Up?
Do you have problems with your front teeth? If they’re chipped, discoloured or uneven, a composite build-up is your answer.
Embrace your natural self without hiding your smile!
What is a composite build-up? This is when a dentist uses a type of resin-based dental material to reshape your teeth. It’s non-invasive and works particularly well for the pearly whites in front.
A composite build-up can also be called dental bonding or composite bonding. It’s a cosmetic treatment that provides an immediate improvement, and the procedure is quick and affordable. You can have it done in one appointment, with no side effects, or recovery period. Plus one more thing… no pain!
What to Expect
The concept is much like having a manicure. Your teeth are prepared, buffed, built-up and polished leaving you with a matching set that you’ll enjoy showing off.
When you come for your composite build-up treatment, your dentist will start by shaping the tooth. Then, they will apply the composite material to the area and use a curing light to harden the resin. Your restored tooth will be polished so the new material is blended and invisible. And that’s all.
A composite build-up restores the surface, shape, and colour of your teeth. The result is a renewed set of even, beautiful front teeth.
The treatment is simple, but the results are profound. You can change the way the world sees you, and even the way you see yourself. You’ll never want to hide your smile again!
Dental Microabrasion
Are you wondering what to do about the marks on your teeth? We have a simple treatment that’s certainly worth thinking about!
Dental microabrasion is a restoration technique that dentists use to correct tooth discolouration. It’s a cosmetic procedure that treats the enamel, which is the tooth’s surface layer, to help remove surface stains and marks from the teeth.
Dental microabrasion is best suited for slight enamel discolouration, as it won’t restore whiteness perfectly when the discolouration is deep.
Causes of Tooth Discolouration
There are a few reasons that your teeth might be stained and sometimes a good cleaning routine is simply not enough to prevent discolouration. Our teeth work very hard and over years they’ll begin to show signs of age.
What we eat and drink can often result in stains on the surface of our teeth, but there are other factors that are not within our control.
Here are a few reasons our teeth may become stained:
- High caffeine beverages (coffee, tea, soda etc.)
- Tobacco products
- Genetic predisposition to discoloured teeth
- Prescribed medication (like Tetracycline)
- High fevers or illness during childhood
How Does Microabrasion Work?
Dental microabrasion is a straightforward, conservative treatment. There are no drills or injections involved, and it doesn’t take too long. The procedure uses mechanical and chemical steps with minimal invasion.
Microabrasion is accomplished in these four steps:
- Your dentist will apply a barrier to protect your gums while he or she works on your teeth
- Using a microabrasion tool, your dentist will remove the discoloured enamel
- To polish up your teeth, an acid abrasion slurry is applied
- Finally, your teeth will be cleaned and rinsed
Remember, after your treatment, you’ll still need to take good care of your teeth. The best way to keep them white is to keep them clean.
If your teeth are bothering you, don’t let the problem get worse. Get them seen to sooner rather than later!
Trios
The very best in dental technology.
The AI in our new digital impression scanner is an intelligent, learning system that produces natural-looking teeth for long lasting treatments. The technology allows for a better fit for less discomfort and longer lasting results. With the smile makeover function, the dentists can design your new smile right in front of you. You can see how your teeth will look like before committing to anything!
With digital scanning, you will spend less time in the chair and have a better experience overall. No more gagging because of messy impression taking procedures or time wasted on taking new impression, all the data is stored on our cloud-based system.
The entire process is much faster too; completing full impressions takes minutes and a reduced number of total visits to the dentist of only 2- 3 per patient on average. It also monitors your bite and detect any teeth wearing problem.
